Why Backup Protection Matters Now More Than Ever
The figures from the Bitkom Economic Security Study 2025 are clear: 34 percent of all German companies have been affected by ransomware attacks. 15 percent paid the ransom. Approximately 70 percent of the total damage caused by cyberattacks - amounting to 289.2 billion euros - is attributable to ransomware.
The problem is this: attackers have long since stopped targeting only production systems. Encrypting the backup deprives the company of its last chance for recovery. This is exactly where Blocky for Veeam comes in.
How Blocky for Veeam works
Blocky protects backup repositories on NTFS/ReFS volumes from unauthorized access. The software uses application-based access control: Only applications approved via fingerprint whitelisting are allowed write access to the backup data. Everything else is blocked. This is combined with WORM (Write Once Read Many) technology, which prevents tampering even at the administrator level.
Even if production systems or backup servers are compromised, the backed-up data remains intact. Blocky for Veeam can be integrated into existing Veeam environments without additional hardware.
“Blocky for Veeam closes a critical security gap in backup design and enables our partners to position themselves as providers of highly resilient infrastructures.”
- Hermann Ramacher, Managing Director of ADN Distribution GmbH
What the partnership with ADN means
ADN distributes consulting-intensive IT solutions to system houses, integrators, and resellers. By adding Blocky for Veeam to the ADN portfolio, partners can source it directly through their usual distribution channels and incorporate it into their offerings. ADN supports the onboarding process with training and sales support through the ADN Academy.
“For businesses, the integrated combination of backup and ransomware protection is essential because it combines prevention and recovery. With Blocky for Veeam, attacks on data backups are detected and stopped. Even in an emergency, data and business continuity remain protected.”
- Jochen Strubel, Channel Manager at GRAU DATA
